The Bachelor of Sciences in Nursing [B.Sc. Nursing] is a comprehensive four- year followed by [8 semesters]. Undergraduate program designed to prepare students for a rewarding career in health care. This course equips students with in depth knowledge of medical sciences, nursing practices, & patient care. The curriculum includes a blend of theoretical studies& extensive clinical training, covering core subjects such as Anatomy, Physiology, Adult Health Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, & Community Health Nursing. Students also gain hands on experience in hospitals, clinics, and community health settings, ensuring they are well prepared to meet the demands of the healthcare industry.

Eligibility Criteria For Admissions

The course will train the students:

  1. Candidates should have successfully completed two years of Pre-University examination conducted by Department of Pre-University Education from recognized board or university and should obtain a minimum of not less than 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English (PCBE) taken together in the qualifying examination. If belonging to schedule caste or tribe, should have obtained not less than 40% marks.
  2. The candidate should have completed 17 years on or before 31st day of December of the year of admission.
  3. To acquire the therapeutic skills in treating the patients with any medical or surgical
    conditions.
  4. Candidate shall be medically fit.
  5. The B.Sc. Nursing program is a four-year full time regular program comprising of eight semesters that is credit and semester based.
  6. The maximum age limit for admission shall be 35 years

NOTE:

[Clinical training & hours policy]

  1. Integrated clinical duty:
    Students must have complete 8 hours of integrated clinical duty per day, with a total of 48 clinical hours per week.
  2. Shift & Rotation:
    Clinical training includes 12-weeks of evening & night shift, designed to provide exposure to real world nursing scenarios.
  3. Supervision:
    Students are closely monitored & guided by nursing tutors during clinical duties to ensure effective learning & patient care.
  4. Completion Requirement:
    Completion of all required clinical hours is mandatory.
  5. Examination Eligibility:
    Students who fail to complete the stipulated clinical hours will not be permitted to appear for the final examinations in the 4th year.

OTHER DETAILS

Attendance:

A Minimum of not less than 80% attendance in theory and practical / clinical separately in each subject in each academic year is essential for appearing in the examination. A candidate pursuing in the course shall study in the college for the entire period as a full time student. No candidate is permitted to work in a hospital / nursing home / laboratory / college while studying this course. No candidate should join any other course of study or appear for any other examination conducted by this university or any other university in India or abroad during the period of registration. Each academic year shall be taken as a unit for calculating the attendance.

Schedule Of Examination:

The Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences governs the academic and examination framework for Sri Chamundeshwari College of Nursing. The curriculum follows a semester-wise examination pattern, with students required to maintain mandatory attendance in both clinical and theory sessions. To be eligible for the semester final examinations, students must fulfill the prescribed attendance requirements and complete all necessary academic and clinical assignments. Upon meeting these criteria, students will be permitted to appear for the final examination, and hall tickets will be issued accordingly. We strive to uphold academic excellence and ensure our students are well-prepared for their professional journey.

All practical examinations must be held in the respective clinical areas

Carry Over:

  • The candidate shall have cleared all the previous examination before appearing for fifth {5th semester} examinations. However, the candidates shall be permitted to attend the consecutive semesters.
  • The candidates shall have cleared all the previous examinations before appearing for 7th semester examination.
  • If a candidate fails in theory or practical exam in a paper in that paper he/she has to re-appear for both in theory and practical.
  • The maximum duration to complete the course successfully should not exceed 8years.

Internal Assessment:

Regular periodic assessment shall be conducted throughout the course. Although the question of number of tests is left to the institution at least three tests in theory and practical each year be held. The test preceding the university examination may be similar to the pattern of university examination. Average of the marks of three tests for theory and practical separately shall be sent to the university. A candidate shall secure not less than 50% of marks prescribed for internal assessment in theory and not less than 50% marks prescribed in practical, separately, in each subject/paper to be eligible to appear in the university examination.

Criteria For Pass:

  • candidate has to fulfill the following criteria
  • Shall pass in both internal and university examination separately vide Indian nursing circular No. 12-2/90-INC dated 16.01.1991
  • Shall secured not less than 50% of maximum marks prescribed for internal assessment in theory and not less than 50% of marks prescribed for internal assessment in practical, separately, in each paper and shall secure in each paper not less than 50% of maximum marks prescribed in the University Examination for theory and not less than 50% of marks prescribed for practical in the university examination separately.
  • However, for a pass in English paper, a candidate shall secure not less than 40% of maximum prescribed marks in theory and 40% of maximum prescribed marks in internal assessment.

Award of Degree:

  • Must have 100% attendance in each of the practical areas before award of degree.
